Meh, I hated the Kotkaniemi hit too, but trying to look at it objectively, I think both got what they deserved.

Agree, but refs are still way too inconsistent. And the only reason Niskanen got the suspension was because of the injury. This is beyond asinine. There are much worse checks where the head is actually targeted that only get 2 and nothing else because there was no injury.

Gallagher is the only one that got the wrong end of the stick on this deal.

We'll see how the Habs players react on the ice. If they try to injure any Flyer then I guess they feel it wasn't enough. But don't forget the Kreider/Price incident.... this is a Vigneault team after all.

If Niskanen had gotten a penalty in game, the 5 and game, that the play called for then a suspension would not be warranted. This feels more like a case of the league making sure that a missed call does not go un punished.

What I don't like about this is how the Habs sent in footage from their social media guy. Does that mean in the future that teams can ask fans to send in video footage to try and use in a suspendable situation?

Also to all those Hab fans.... this was just a hockey play. You see it multiple times a game. Just last night, Weber cross checked Coots the same way. The only difference was Coots didn't turn and get the hit to his face. Niskanen would not have tried to injury. Yes he tried to cross check the Hab player, but jabs and hits are a part of playoff hockey.
